Export/Import Bookmarks to and from Firefox
Using Firefox Sync
You can use Firefox Sync to move your bookmarks from one computer to another.
Export
- Click the menu button
to open the menu panel. Click Bookmarks and then click the Manage bookmarks bar at the bottom.

In the Library window, click the Import and Backup button and then select Backup….
- In the Bookmarks backup filename window that opens, choose a location to save the file, which is named bookmarks-"date".json by default.
You can save it to your desktop, flash drive or OneDrive.
4. Save the bookmarks json file. The Bookmarks backup filename window will close and then you can close the Library window.
Export as HTML File

Click the menu button
to open the menu panel. Click Bookmarks and then click the Manage bookmarks bar at the bottom.

In the toolbar of the Library window click
Import and Backup and choose Export Bookmarks to HTML… from the drop-down menu.
- In the Export Bookmarks File window that opens, choose a location to save the file, which is named bookmarks.html by default. The desktop is usually a good spot, but any place that is easy to remember will work.
- Click Save. The Export Bookmarks File window will close.
- Close the Library window.
Your bookmarks are now successfully exported from Firefox. The bookmarks HTML file you saved is now ready to be imported into another web browser or a new device.
Import
- Click the menu button
to open the menu panel. Click Bookmarks and then click the Manage bookmarks bar at the bottom.

In the Library window, click the Import and Backup button and then select Restore.

Select the backup from which you want to restore:
- The dated entries are automatic bookmark backups.
- Choose File… lets you restore from a manual backup (see above).
- After selecting a backup and confirming your choice, your bookmarks from that backup will be restored.
- Close the Library window.
Import bookmarks from the Library window
- Click the menu button
to open the menu panel. Click Bookmarks and then click the Manage bookmarks bar at the bottom.

The Bookmarks Library window will open. From the toolbar in the Library window, click
Import and Backup and choose Import Bookmarks from HTML…

- Within the Import Bookmarks File window that opens, navigate to the bookmarks HTML file you are importing and select the file.
- Click the Open button. The Import Bookmarks File window will close.
- The bookmarks in the selected HTML file will be added to your Firefox bookmarks within the Bookmarks Menu directory.
